Client: Canadian Institute of Child Health (CICH)
Project: Children’s Instructional Storybook/Poster/Kit
This project began when CICH asked Blackbird to produce a digital version of “William, Won’t You Wash Your Hands?”, an illustrated storybook for preschoolers to learn the importance of washing their hands in order to stop the spread of germs. Once the book was digitally recreated in English and French, an accompanying kit (educator resource sheets, booklets, posters etc.) was developed. The storybook has additionally been translated into Inuktitut for distribution in the North as well as Low German for Mennonite Communities. Since then, online resources have been developed in Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic and Punjabi. A “schoolbook edition”, reached over 600,000 children in schools across Canada.
